We ask for references for some of our volunteer roles, and most roles will involve an ID check - this helps us to confirm the identity of our volunteers. If references are needed, we will ask for these on the application form. Some of our volunteering roles also require a Criminal Records Check (CRC). If a CRC is required then this will be clearly written on the role description.
Alzheimer’s Society recognises the contribution that people with a criminal record can make to our organisation and we welcome applications from a diverse range of backgrounds. A prior criminal conviction does not necessarily prevent you from volunteering, but Alzheimer’s Society does need to be aware of this information in order to assess your suitability for the role.
Of course! We know that a lot of our volunteers support us in more than one role, and we really appreciate the time that they offer us. Taking on another role can help broaden your understanding of the work Alzheimer’s Society does and it can help you to develop your skills and knowledge further.
Not at all, we have a wide variety of roles with different time commitments, from a couple of hours at one of our yearly events through to regular volunteering. You can find the time commitment on the advert. We value any time that you are able to give!
Some of our roles require the volunteer to be at least 18 years old. However, we have lots of opportunities for young people to get involved and some of our roles are suitable for younger people. Those aged 16 and 17 can volunteer in specific roles with parental consent whilst those under 16 can volunteer with a parent or guardian at our events.
Absolutely, Alzheimer’s Society works hard to ensure that we are able to offer opportunities to people, regardless of background or situation.
