About The Role

We’re looking for two compassionate and organised Online Communities Assistants to support the delivery of our Dementia Support Forum and wider online communities. Available 24/7, these services provide vital peer support for people affected by dementia, helping them connect with others, share experiences, and access support whenever they need it most.

You will play a key role in ensuring the Forum is a safe, welcoming and engaging space for members. Acting as the first line of support, you will moderate content, respond to safeguarding concerns, manage enquiries, and support volunteers and users with empathy and professionalism. 

You will also help shape and improve the service by contributing to insight, content creation, and digital improvement projects that enhance the reach and impact of the Forum. 

Please note: This is a fully remote, home-based role with a 5 out of 7 working pattern, which may include some weekend shifts to support service coverage.  

About you 

You will have:

  • Experience in online moderation, digital communities, customer support, safeguarding, or a similar environment.
  • Confidence handling sensitive, emotional or challenging conversations.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to respond clearly and empathetically.
  • An understanding of safeguarding principles (or willingness to learn quickly).
  • The ability to remain calm and make sound judgments in fast-paced or high-risk situations.
  • A collaborative approach to working with volunteers and cross-functional teams.
  • Confidence using digital tools and platforms, with an interest in continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day running of the Dementia Support Forum, ensuring a safe, welcoming and well-managed online community.
  • Moderate user-generated content in line with policies, removing or responding to content as required.
  • Identify, assess and escalate safeguarding concerns in accordance with organisational procedures and legislation.
  • Provide empathetic support to forum users, volunteers and contributors, including managing conflict sensitively.
  • Manage the service email inbox, triaging and responding to enquiries in a timely and appropriate way.
  • Support and work alongside volunteers, helping them manage queries, moderation tasks and complex or sensitive situations.

Interviews for this role have been provisionally scheduled to take place via MS teams w/c 18th May 2026.
