Alzheimer’s Society, the UKs leading dementia charity is on the look out for an IT Project Manager. This role will play an important role in shaping the Society’s technical transformation.
You will manage a wide range of IT projects, work in partnership with technical teams, business analysts, and stakeholders across the society. From project launch to closure, you’ll oversee planning, budgeting, risk management, and reporting, ensuring seamless handover to business-as-usual operations. In this role, you’ll also champion technology change, mentor colleagues in project and change management best practices, and represent the IT team in large-scale organisational projects.
The IT Project Manager role combines technical expertise with strong project management skills. It offers the opportunity to work individually while contributing to meaningful change in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Projects will be managed in accordance with the Society’s project management methodology, based on Prince2. The Society is also starting to use elements of Agile methodology in our projects.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Deliver projects aligned to our IT Roadmap and strategic objectives, ensuring outcomes meet time, cost, and quality parameters.
- Engage with stakeholders across the organisation to secure their input and support in achieving project goals.
- Work in partnership with the Business Engagement Manager to track project benefits throughout the lifecycle.
- Analyse data and identify solutions in partnership with business analysts.
- Implement process improvements and organisational process re-engineering as part of project delivery.
- Manage risks, issues, and dependencies, providing clear reports and updates to stakeholders and change boards.
- Coordinate project closure, ensuring a smooth handover to operations.
- Motivate and direct project team members, including analysts, testers, and technical teams.

About you
You are an experienced IT or Technical Project Manager with a proven ability to lead technical projects from launch to completion. You thrive in dynamic environments, excel in stakeholder engagement, and have strong knowledge of IT systems and processes.
Must-haves:
- Extensive experience managing end-to-end IT projects, from planning to delivery.
- Strong knowledge of Prince2 and Agile project management methodologies.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and work in partnership across departments.
- Experience with process re-engineering and realising change.
- Excellent organisational, time management, and risk management skills.
- Proven ability to engage and communicate with diverse stakeholders, including senior leaders.
- Proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience mentoring and supporting colleagues in project and change management best practices.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience working in a PMO or supporting organisational-wide projects.
- Knowledge of the charity or non-profit sector.
- Certifications in project management or related IT disciplines.
